Powell, Ohio is the second largest community in Delaware County.  When I moved to central Ohio in 1990, Powell was a village.   Powell became a city in 2000.

The City of Powell has a historic downtown with shops and restaurants and a lot of wonderful residential communities today.

Powell, Ohio History

The first settlers were from Middlebury Connecticutt and they named the settlement Middlebury. The first settlers arrived in 1801.   In the 1850’s when Judge Thomas Powell established a post office the name was changed to Powell in his honor.
