Delaware County Zombie Exercise is a 5K Run. The Homeland Security / Delaware County Emergency Management office says the event is “a 5K Run / Walk / Shuffle” a “Zombie Exercise”…. An opportunity to get ready, just in case a Zombie Apocalypse breaks out in central Ohio.
Date: Saturday, October 20, 2012
It will be colorful Saturday at Highbanks Metro Park. Central Ohio trees are at their peak. There are prizes for best costumes for adults, children and pets. Zombie dogs? I saw Zombie dogs at the Columbus Zombie Walk in May. I have yet to see a dog trained to walk like a zombie. Any dog trained to shuffle ought to win a prize.
This Saturday’s ‘Zombie Exercise’ is at Highbanks Metro Park Dragonfly Day Camp (the Dragonfly Day Camp entrance is from Powell Road, do not enter the park from Route 23.)

Will suburban central Ohio zombies look different from urban zombies? Do zombies who shopped at Polaris Fashion Place dress different than zombies who shopped in the Short North? An article in ‘This Week News’ written by Brent Nuckles said:
“Delaware County EMA Director Brian Galligher said residents should break out their spookiest zombie makeup for the event, but to remember young children will be present.”
The tree picture here are from the Zombie Walk in Goodale Park in May. The zombies treed these men… in a fall zombie exercise the trees will be more colorful. Picture is borrowed from ColumbusBestBlog.com (my site.)
There are rules, on the Delaware County Zombie Exercise site, including:
“All costumes must be in good taste. The costume contest is open to all ages. We know you want to be the best of the living dead, but we will young children present.”
There are more rules. Read them but REMEMBER just a couple of things.
1. Costumes should be tasteful, not just taste good.
2. “Zombies do NOT like fast food.”
